Transition Program - General Overview

All students attending WSSB age 14 and up participate in Transition and Career Education activities as part of their yearly program. Students on IEP’s have a transition plan included and updated each year. The staff at WSSB is committed to assisting students in realizing their goals at WSSB and beyond.
Activities vary, but include field trips, guest speakers, career fairs, workshops related to transition issues, work experience, career exploration activities – in group settings and/or individually directed, class career education projects, college visits, and a class required of juniors titled GOALS (Go Out and Live Successfully).
WSSB works in partnership with the Dept. of Services for the Blind (DSB) on many of these activities, as well as working with students and their families to apply for vocational rehabilitation services with DSB.
Students not currently attending WSSB are always encouraged and often involved in these activities.
