Levels Description
At the beginning of the school year each student is evaluated on their mental and physical ability to perform specific recreational tasks and then is given a recreation level (1, 2, or 3). This level is used to determine whether a recreational activity is appropriate for that student. Each recreation activity is given a suggested level of participation to ensure student success and safety.
Level 1 *
Students need to have one on one assistance to participate in activities. These students tend to have a lower physical stamina and have a difficult time following specific skill instruction.
Level 2 *
Students need a lot of initial instruction in an activity. Once they have shown activity understanding they are able to perform the activity independently but will need someone to check in with them from time to time. Physical stamina is sometimes limited but they are able to understand and follow directions.
Level 3 *
Students will engage independently in activities. They have full understanding of the expectations of each activity and meet all of its physical requirements.
