WSSB would like to thank IntelliTools for their strong support of this project.  IntelliTools Classroom Suite is required to use the activities listed below.

Activities for Teachers of the Visually Impaired

Training materials for teachers of the visually impaired have been developed for the BrailleNote®, BrailleNote GPS®, JAWS®, and the Literary Braille Code.  The activities are interactive; the user is presented with information on the software or device, and then has the option of taking a quiz and testing their knowledge.  Records can easily be kept of the student's progress.  The materials can have applications with distance education programs.  IntelliTalk 3® is required for these activities.

Braille Activities (Can be used with IntelliTactiles® USB from APH)

Three activities on the Literary Braille Code are included in this download:

Place the "Alphabet USB Overlay Companion" in the IntelliKeys® keyboard without the IntelliKeys® bar-coded overlay.  The IntelliTactiles® overlays have been changed into custom overlays.

These activities will only work with the USB version of IntelliTactiles®.  IntelliTactiles USB® can be purchased from the American Printing House for the Blind.  www.aph.org  800-223-1839

BrailleNote® GPS IP3

The purpose of the BrailleNote® GPS IP3 activity is to help students and orientation and mobility instructors learn the commands in the classroom, before taking the BrailleNote® GPS out on the street.  The information is presented, and then there is a quiz over that information.  One overlay is required for this activity; print it, laminate, and Braille label it.  IntelliPics Studio 3® is required to use this activity.  Overlay Maker® is required to print the overlay.

The BrailleNote® GPS activity has the following sections:

Math Activities (Can be used with IntelliTactiles® from APH)

The following single digit math facts are included in this download: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. An activity on locating numbers 0 - 9 is included.  The enter key is pressed after answering each question.

Place the bar-coded "Math Access" overlay from IntelliTools into the IntelliKeys® keyboard to use these materials with low vision students.

IntelliTactiles®, from APH is required to use these materials with Braille students. Keep the bar-coded "Math Access" overlay from IntelliTools in the IntelliKeys® keyboard.  Place the "IntelliTactiles® Math Access Companion" overlay over this IntelliTools overlay.

IntelliTactiles® can be purchased from the American Printing House for the Blind.  Specify the IntelliTactiles® Standard Overlay Companions if you are using the IntelliKeys® Classic Keyboard, specify the IntelliTactiles® USB Overlay Companions if you are using the IntelliKeys® USB keyboard. IntelliPics Studio 3® is required to use these activities.  The standard IntelliKeys® overlays are required.  www.aph.org  800-223-1839

Nemeth Code Activities

The content of these activities was developed by JoAnn Gately, Mathematics Instructor at the WA State School for the Blind.  Press the button at the left of each line to start the quiz.  IntelliPics Studio 3® is required to use these activities. Overlay Maker® is required to print the overlays.

Basic Nemeth Code

Nemeth Code 2

Nursery Rhymes (Can be used with IntelliTactiles USB® from APH)

Three Nursery Rhymes Activities are in this download.  Each Nursery Rhyme activity has 8 or more nursery rhymes.

Place the "Mouse Access USB Overlay Companion" in the IntelliKeys® keyboard without the IntelliKeys® bar-coded overlay.  The IntelliTactiles® overlays have been changed into custom overlays.

The "Mouse Access USB Overlay Companion" will attempt to send a standard overlay.  For the activity to work, this needs to be prevented.  Place a mailing label underneath the words "Mouse Access" on the "Mouse Access USB Overlay Companion."

These activities will only work with the USB version of IntelliTactiles®.  IntelliTactiles® USB can be purchased from the American Printing House for the Blind.  www.aph.org  800-223-1839

Orientation and Mobility Activities

Three orientation and mobility activities are included in this download: Intersection, Six Blocks, and Nine Blocks.  Print out the three overlays, laminate, and tactualize them to use with the activities.

Intersection

This activity provides students with practice on the intermediate compass points of an intersection; NE, SE, NW, SW.  A sample question is, "You are facing east and have just crossed the street.  Traffic is on your left. What corner are you on?"

Six Blocks and Nine Blocks Activities

These two activities provide students with practice on counting blocks and determining how many streets they have crossed.  The six block activity has simple compass directions.  The nine block activity has more advanced compass directions.

IntelliPics Studio 3® is required to use these activities.  Overlay Maker® is required to print the overlays.
